The motion to create a new Committee for Housing has been supported by the States and will come into effect from July 1st, just in time for the next election. Together with the six requerants, I laid this motion in the summer of 2024 following weeks of research and consultation with internal and external stakeholders.
The new Committee for Housing will amalgamate the various mandates on housing under one political roof and provide a central point of accountability and driver of decision-making and leadership on housing policy and delivery.
I wanted to thank Deputies Ferbrache, Leadbeater, Moakes, Oliver, Meerveld and Mahoney in their support and perseverance with this successful motion and various debates.
